Global supply chains are undergoing a structural transformation. Rising costs in China, geopolitical friction and pandemic-era disruptions have pushed firms toward the “China+1” strategy, distributing production across multiple geographies. Southeast Asia has emerged as a primary beneficiary. Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia are absorbing new manufacturing investment, supported by competitive labor costs, industrial policies and expanding logistics infrastructure. Regional frameworks such as RCEP are reducing barriers and enabling integrated cross-border production networks. Investments in ports, industrial parks and digital infrastructure further support industrial growth. Southeast Asia is not replacing China but becoming a complementary production platform. The defining question for the coming decade is not whether supply chains will shift — but how far and how fast the region will absorb this transition.
